In this podcast Paul van Essen talks about the recent season we have been through and how it has led us to seeing the New Testament church from a fresh perspective. We must be unapologetic lovers of God and see ourselves as being the light of the world if we are to truly live life missionally.
Today both Paul and Carrie van Essen share about their recent experiences of God and their fresh revelations of the Holy Spirit and liberty. This message also includes some prophetic words for our church family and ministry time.
Taking inspiration from the live of Jesus and the early believers, Paul identifies what missional living really is. The ultimate thing Jesus did was to connect people to God, not to start a church. The church is simply a bi-product of living this way.
This first message of 2018 sets down clearly what we should expect in this new year. Paul is determined to ‘rediscover’ everything that a New Testament Christian is and how they can live. The mandate to love people extraordinarily, the heartbeat of the church found in Acts chapter 2 and the fact that the power of the Holy Spirit is given to make us witnesses of Jesus make a strong case for a ‘new way of living’. Bring on 2018!
After a season of real heart-searching and God-seeking, Paul speaks from his heart about the door God seems to be opening at this time. The mandate to ‘be missionaries’ - ones sent on a journey to bring Jesus and the Kingdom to everyone - comes through loud and clear as the heartbeat of what God has in store for 2018. The significance of a change of name to ‘greater life missional church’ and the examples from Scripture and from history of those who have lived this way, make this a compelling message.
